by on Aug.21, 2010, under Events, News, Products, Riders

As many of you are probably aware, Emerica has just recently released their new, highly anticipated video, “Stay Gold.” We will be receiving our very own copies of the video in the very near future and will be playing it non-stop at both of our store locations. If you’re ready to get your mind blown, stop in, check it out, and make sure to pick up a copy of your own. While you’re at it, you can take a gander at our new Lakai shipment!

In other video news, local skater/skate video aficionado John Ficenec made a re-edit of team rider Drew Newlin’s video part in “So Over It.” His edit also includes numerous bonus clips that never made it into the video. You can watch John’s work below:

Hometown Heroes Contest/Photo Recap

by on Jul.08, 2010, under Events, News, Riders

After all the rain yesterday afternoon, it was a surprise to many that the Omaha weather let up and allowed us to take part in the Hometown Heroes AM Tour at Roberts. Tons of skaters, friends, and parents showed up at the park to take part in one of the first major, legitimate contests to come to Omaha in years. After the park had dried completely, the HH boys got the contest started around 6:30.

8 heats of 5 skater, 4 minute jam sessions seemed to go by extremely fast, and after all was said and done, the 6 skaters who ended up competing in the final 8 minute jam were Cory Foster, Bruce Abraham, Jeff Fowler, Sean Souders, and Next G’s very own Austin Jensen and Drew Newlin. What ensued in those 8 minutes was by far some of the best skating that’s gone down at Roberts at once.

Once the dust settled, the top 3 skaters were chosen. From 3rd to 1st: Austin, Bruce, and Jeff! A big, big congrats to all 3 finalists and to Jeff especially, as he will be competing in the HH finals at this year’s X-Games!

Thanks to the Hometown Heroes dudes for coming through Omaha and putting on such a rad contest. A huge, HUGE thanks goes out to Phil Burcher and Steve Andel down at Precision Skateboards in Lincoln, as they are the ones who are responsible for bringing this event to Omaha.

Below are a ton photos from the event, all taken by Eric Eckert. To see all of the photos he took, visit http://yorknewstimes.mycapture.com/mycapture/folder.asp?event=1037557&CategoryID=57024. Thanks for all the good flicks, Eric! Stay tuned for more HH photo/video coverage in the coming days.

Rob Warren Wins 3rd Lair’s O.U.T. Championship!

by on May.29, 2010, under Events, News, Riders

This past Sunday, our boy Rob Warren showed up to compete in 3rd Lair Skatepark’s annual flatground game of O.U.T. – not S.K.A.T.E. Having won the event in 2007, Rob was no stranger to the contest and to many of its skaters. Rob faced off with Minneapolis’ own C.J. Tambornino in the finals, who also was O.U.T. champion in 2008. In the end, Rob managed to come out on top and win the $350 cash prize for 1st place. Check a couple photos from the event below and keep checking back for video of the event!

UPDATE: As promised, here’s the footage from the O.U.T. finals in its entirety. Pardon the low-quality – we had to make it as small as possible to fit it onto our server! 2007 winner Rob Warren Vs. 2008 winner C.J. Tambornino, best out of 3 games, no repeat tricks!

Austin’s Retro Clip and Spring Montage

by on May.25, 2010, under News, Riders

While looking over some footage, we managed to find a sick clip of Austin kickflipping over the blue Johnstone rail downtown. Even though it’s a bit of an older clip, we don’t see any harm in giving you all the chance to see it again!

In addition, our buddy Dan Moreno got out his camera last week when the spring weather finally hit. The results of that day and several others can be found in the montage below, which features team rider Drew Newlin and Alex Harlow, as well as some of our Omaha and Lincoln friends.
