“Battle at the Bay” Results/Photos and New Product

by on Mar.10, 2011, under Events, News, Products, Riders

The first annual “Battle at the Bay” went off without a hitch last weekend and was a blast to be a part of. Riders from across the Midwest competed in the expert division on Friday for the $300 first prize across four different obstacles, getting 7 tries on each. After all was said and done, contest-monster Lee Osterholt reigned on top, with Secret Spot riders Lance Wileski and Chris Andersen holding 2nd and 3rd place. We were lucky enough to be able to secure some awesome photos from the expert division from our good photographer/filmer friend Dan Moreno – check them out below! Rounding out those photos are some new wheels and trucks from Spitfire and Thunder. Come snag ‘em up as this weather gets warmer!

Bay 198 Top Shop Contest Photo/Video Recap

by on Dec.20, 2010, under Events, News, Products, Riders

This past Saturday marked the first annual Nebraska Top Shop competition at Bay 198 in Lincoln! As expected, the contest went off without a hitch – it was surreal seeing so many good Nebraskan skaters and 10 of Nebraska’s best skateshops all in one place. The contest consisted of 4 riders from each shop skating one obstacle of their choice: the flatbar, the electrical box, the Berrics box, or the 3 block/handrail combo.

After it was all said and done, our Bellevue store managed to snag 4th place and our Secret Spot roster came in 2nd, just behind Precision, who reigned as the top shop in Nebraska. A best trick contest followed on the 3 block/handrail and Lee Osterholt came out on top and a $100 richer with a bigspin heelflip boardslide down the handrail!

A big thanks goes out to Mike Smith and John Morin at Bay 198, the photographers and filmers on hand, Phil at Precision for MCing the event, all of the judges involved, and all of the skateboarders and skateshops that were present! It was a blast and we’ll see you all next year! Below are some photos taken by Jason and some video work done by our friend Eric Eckert at Skate Hive.

In other news, Secret Spot has just sold out of its first set of copies of “GO BIG shRED,” but the Bellevue store still has a few left! Come and grab a copy for $10 while we’re still including $5 Next G gift cards with each purchase!
