Our friends from Hometown Heroes got their video coverage of the contest uploaded onto their website yesterday. After all the rain yesterday afternoon, it was a surprise to many that the Omaha weather let up and allowed us to take part in the Hometown Heroes AM Tour at Roberts. Tons of skaters, friends, and parents showed up at the park to take part in one of the first major, legitimate contests to come to Omaha in years. After the park had dried completely, the HH boys got the contest started around 6:30.

8 heats of 5 skater, 4 minute jam sessions seemed to go by extremely fast, and after all was said and done, the 6 skaters who ended up competing in the final 8 minute jam were Cory Foster, Bruce Abraham, Jeff Fowler, Sean Souders, and Next G’s very own Austin Jensen and Drew Newlin. What ensued in those 8 minutes was by far some of the best skating that’s gone down at Roberts at once.

Once the dust settled, the top 3 skaters were chosen. From 3rd to 1st: Austin, Bruce, and Jeff! A big, big congrats to all 3 finalists and to Jeff especially, as he will be competing in the HH finals at this year’s X-Games!

Thanks to the Hometown Heroes dudes for coming through Omaha and putting on such a rad contest. A huge, HUGE thanks goes out to Phil Burcher and Steve Andel down at Precision Skateboards in Lincoln, as they are the ones who are responsible for bringing this event to Omaha.
